The popular Emerald Cup show has been around a long time and for good reason. Competitors love it, fans love it, Seattle is a beautiful city to visit, and there’s always a future star (or ten) up on stage.

The excellent promoting team of Brad and Elaine Craig debuted this show back in ’83; they nicknamed it The Jewel of the Northwest. Much like the moniker itself, many of the athletes that compete at the Cup turn out to be gems in the physique industry.

We’ve got the proof right here. Some of the best models on the Studio—Jacklyn Abrams, Rachel Gilmore, Erica Blockman, Wendy Lindquist, Lauren Beckham, Heather Morales, to name just a handful—have competed at the Cup and gone on to become pros or top national-level competitors with pro cards in their future.

Speaking of rising stars, we’ve got more to come. Out of four brand new faces from this year’s show, three either claimed an overall title or won their class.

We’ve also got coverage of the women’s physique show from the pit, including a guest posing appearance by bodybuilding legend Nikki Fuller. Here’s the lowdown on shoots:

Becca Cole Sizemore: Becca was one of the great headlines of this year’s Emerald Cup with her overall win for the fitness division. The former gymnast out of Knoxville, Tennessee is revitalized and suddenly looking like a pro card contender as she heads to the Jr. USAs next. It’s been a rocky road for Becca since she began competing in 2010, with health problems—including an eating disorder and metabolic damage—nearly forcing her to quit the sport entirely, but she never gave up. Now, thanks to plucky determination and a terrific support system, she’s healthy and in the best shape of her life. Definitely a heart of a champion right there.

Crystal Steffler: Crystal is our first update since the show wrapped up so you already can see she’s an adorable, blonde cutie with muscles and curls everywhere. The 23-year-old, future fitness covergirl appears on the fast track to bikini prominence after winning her class in Seattle. When she’s not on stage, the Teamfitphysique member is a registered nurse in orthopedics in her hometown of Boise, Idaho. We’ll take another look at Crystal on Flex Friday.

Cyndi Terry: A local girl from Washington, Cyndi brings an athletic pedigree to the roster as a former tackle football player and current powerlifting star with a strong 300-pound deadlift. The powerhouse brunette didn’t compete at the Cup but has a busy schedule coming up beginning with the Empire State Classic, a powerlifting meet, this Saturday. Later on, she’ll shift to high heels and bikini bling to compete in open figure at the NPC Washington State on July 16.

Marla Kirby: Last but not least, we have Marla out of Costa Mesa, California, another newly minted champ from the Emerald Cup after winning overall of the 35 and up figure division. A former winner at the San Diego Championships in the tall class, Marla is also a seasoned national-level competitor well-positioned with this latest win to continue her quest for a pro card this summer. We’ll keep you posted on that and bring you pics from Marla’s and all the other shoots in the days and weeks ahead.
