News & Notes

Five posts for the price of one. Nuggets and tidbits, news and notes from around the studio…

Abby Marie poses at Public Square in downtown Cleveland, Ohio during North Americans.

Abby Marie Miami Bound

Another competitive season is winding down with NPC Nationals starting November 17th. Abby’s back in the figure division after competing in bikini the better part of the last couple years and heads into this show on the heels of one of her best national level finishes with a fifth-place mark at North Americans. Can the Austin, Texas star finally breakthrough in South Florida?

Rachel Gilmore Wins Again

Speaking of breakthroughs, Rachel should be at the top of your list of competitors to watch out for in 2012. The dazzling Spokane, Washington youngster is nationally qualified after collecting two more trophies to close out her season during October, winning her class at the Night of Champions show in her hometown and then taking the figure overall crown two weeks later at the NPC Northern Classic. She’s quickly piled up the hardware and has serious potential to turn pro in short order.

Cassie Rowe Switching to Physique

Not part of the studio yet but definitely on the radar, Cassie competed in figure at the Jr. USAs and Team Universe this year and plans to jump into physique at the NPC Nationals coming up. “I no longer have to hold back on my training…I can lift, lift, lift, which is what I love,” the strapping 25-year-old beauty from North Carolina wrote on Facebook. Switching from quarter turns to flexing should be a breeze for Cassie, whose first show was as a bodybuilder when she was just 17.

Keeping Up With Kat

Wearing her Emerald Cup tank top, figure girl Katrinka Danielson poses with bodybuilder Sara Butler during their tandem photoshoot earlier this year. Kat told me she plans to return to the Cup next spring with designs on reaching the pro stage at the USAs in the summer. “I’m a seasoned competitor and know my body very well,” she said. “I’m definitely determined more than ever! I’ve got what it takes and the looks.” Hoping to have an interview with the 35-year-old competitor from Oregon among these pages soon.

Superhero Amber Jacobs.

Eye Candy

Another Halloween has come and gone but plenty of leftover morsels to go around on Facebook. Here’s a personal favorite, figure cutie Amber “Boulder Shoulders” Jacobs as Wonder Woman at a club in her hometown of Seattle. Fitting costume on a sweet girl.
