Cheri Nguyen Wins Figure Overall at Muscle Mayhem
Promising figure newcomer Cheri Nguyen, who moonlights as a ring girl and aspiring MMA fighter, successfully landed a decisive knockout punch in her quest towards entering the NPC elite by winning the overall title at the Muscle Mayhem Bodybuilding, Fitness, Figure & Bikini Championships Saturday night in Kansas City, Missouri.
Winning at the Folly Theater — same venue where Kim Hattrup won the tall class last year — it was the second home state title in as many years for the 5-foot-1, 108-pound southwestern Springfield resident originally from Iowa. Cheri was also the ‘09 NPC Ozark figure champ and later placed 15th in the short class at the Nationals in Florida.
She was exquisite in her debut photoshoot at the Arnold earlier this spring, dazzling in a fetching cherry-colored workout outfit and mesh top.
The 30-year-old showstopper hopes to be a fitness cover girl and with her impressive physique — detailed back, great abs, chiseled arms, beautifully capped delts — and baby-faced good looks, it’s certainly possible for the raven-haired lass.
No word yet on whether Cheri will let the momentum from this latest romp in the Show Me State carry her up to the Junior Nationals five weeks from now. In prime condition with a surge of confidence and a pro card on the line, she would certainly be one to watch in Chicago.
