Icelandic Star Tops Latest Poll

Sharp Peaks: Iceland's Kristin Kristjansdottir poses in Columbus.

Kristin Kristjansdottir earned the majority of your votes for favorite new European on the site. It’s time for another look at the Icelandic Bodyfitness champion who began the year with a fifth-place finish at the Arnold and will be in the Ukraine for the European Juniors and Masters Championships on June 18th.

Guarding the Gate: The steely figure champ strikes a commanding stance.

Already in good shape at age 38, Kristin was encouraged by friends to give competitions a try. An athletic background including gymnastics and soccer gave her a solid foundation to start lifting more weight in the gym, and it quickly paid off when she won her first show the following year.

Along with her success on stage, being the wife of a bodybuilder as well as a mom gives Kristin added motivation to stay fit. “It means a lot to me and my children,” she said, “because we eat healthy food and train lot. They like it and so does my husband.”

Talking about the barometer of women’s fitness in her country, Kristin observes that most Icelanders embrace the healthier look of shapely, feminine muscle. Asked about the best muscles on her own physique, she points to abs and arms as the strongest.

Back to contest news, Kristin is also considering competing at the WBPF European Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championships on May 20th in Vienna, Austria.
