Short Trip, Fresh Hardware For Local Hardbody
Dedicated and dynamic Lisa Aranda didn’t have far to travel to compete at the Arnold Amateur and the classy Ohio native, stronger than ever at 45, made the most of the short drive with a pitch-perfect physique that paid off with a brand new trophy for one of our favorite models.
About thirty miles north of her hometown of Lancaster, Lisa brought her best look yet up to Columbus for the dizzying four-day muscle show. The outstanding, ageless bodybuilding mom — due to turn 46 in April — shined on stage, winning the lightweight class in front of a hometown crowd in her first competition in over a year.
Moreover, pulling this one off required a certain competitive savvy that perhaps only a seasoned veteran like Lisa could have handled. In an odd bit of scheduling, prejudging for amateur bodybuilding, fitness and figure was held Thursday night with finals on Saturday morning, a much longer interval than usual for athletes used to a single day/night scenario. But the delay didn’t faze the wily Lisa, who had her superbly engineered physique dialed in throughout the course of the event.
Elsewhere, two-time heavyweight winner Maria Rita-Bello of Argentina claimed the overall while Katka Kyptova — the promising 26-year-old bodybuilder and powerlifter out of the Czech Republic making her Arnold debut — took fifth in the heavyweights.
