Excitement Builds For Excalibur Championships
As the Excalibur Bodybuilding, Figure & Bikini Championships begin today out in Southern California, thoughts turn to the prospective winners emerging from this year’s season finale near Los Angeles. Anything close to the class of last year — when names like Amanda Folstad took the heavyweights and Mavi Gioia the bodybuilding overall — and 2010 will kickoff adding another flurry of fresh talent to the national mix.
Speaking of talent, easily the sleeper hit of last year’s show was charismatic Arizona personal trainer Ali Olson — a 37-year-old lifelong swimmer and former Ms. Galaxy obstacle course standout — who topped over one hundred other competitors in sweeping the open figure and masters overall titles.
Ali went on to capture our hearts at the Junior Nationals over the summer, where her flawless physique — including stunning bicep peaks, powerful quads and a magnificently chiseled back — radiated with health and strength as her sweet and vivacious personality bubbled with charm and confidence. Ali was such a glowing revelation that even star-struck strangers frozen by her magnetic presence seemed to become instant female muscle fans.
So, with thoughts of reigning champs still lingering in memory, the promise of today’s winners stir a sense of fervor and anticipation. Who will carry the trophies and momentum off the stage and into the new year? It’s the final show of the season on the West Coast, one last chance to strike gold in the Golden State.
