Flex, Reflex — Wendy & Julie Bring Winning Team to Studio
Wendy Lindquist and Julie Bilodeau are not just two beautiful, outstanding bodybuilders who by mere happenstance got together for a photoshoot at the Emerald Cup. There is plenty more to the behind the scenes story in this most richly compelling and visually scintillating Sisters in Arms tandem to date.
For starters, Wendy and Julie teamed up this year to represent two-thirds of Team Reflex (along with bodybuilder Valerie Tosoff), the winning triumvirate at the recent Femsport Women’s All-Strength & Fitness Challenge. The highly competitive annual athletic event held in Vancouver, British Columbia featured its usual array of exciting strength and endurance tests.
And, as usual, it was a crowd-pleaser, featuring a cast of 12, three-girl teams. Wendy finished second overall in the individual standings, her mighty 14½-inch arms staking her to first place in the exciting bicep curls event. The captivating Canadian star was a top-five finisher in four out of the five events.
Meanwhile, plucky teammate Julie made an exceptional showing, especially considering the amazing 5-foot-3, 110-pound mother of four was one of the smaller girls in the field. It didn’t stop the adorable and bespectacled brunette from ending up a solid ninth overall, with the tire pull (seventh) and obstacle course (eighth) among her best events.
Later, they shared the bodybuilding stage in Seattle — Wendy placed second in the middleweight class and Julie finished fifth in the lightweights at the Emerald Cup — before sharing the spotlight on the studio. The girls cheerfully treat us to stylish posing and side-by-side comparisons, muscle measurements and some lift and carry fun during their shoot.
The chemistry they share is no coincidence. This muscle friendship dates back at least a few years, to 2007, when Julie began her bodybuilding odyssey with Wendy as her personal trainer.
Quickly, the hardwork and expert coaching paid off. With Wendy cheering her on, Julie went on to place second in the lightweights at her first show, the Western Canadian Bodybuilding, Fitness & Figure Championships, in 2008.
They’ve been a dream team ever since.
