On Stage or In the Ring, Yenny Knocks ‘Em Out

Since Yenny Polanco started competing four years ago, she’s amassed a lengthy string of titles, certificates and pro cards worthy of turning her resume into scroll. But at 32, “Lady Dynamite,” as she’s known on her myspace page and website, is just getting started.

The athletic Boston, Massachusetts resident launched her competitive journey with a flourish back in 2005, emerging with first place honors in figure at the INBF (International Natural Bodybuilding & Fitness Federation) New England Classic.

Since then, the 5-foot-2, 100-pound bundle of muscle and energy has bounced between figure and fitness divisions, storming through natural federations and clinching pro status in two — the IFPA (International Fitness & Physique Association) and WNBF (World Natural Bodybuilding Federation) — while becoming a certified personal trainer along the way.

In 2007, Yenny reached the national level in the NPC and narrowly missed an IFBB pro card after a strong third place showing in the fitness short class at Team Universe. Here’s a great shot of the peppy jump rope diva in action.

But Yenny’s proudest moment on stage came last year, when the exotic, alluring Dominican Republic native with the cute smile and flamboyant curls took over as the reigning Figure America Champion.

Even though she wasn’t in town to compete, Yenny looked in game condition when we caught up with her at the recent Arnold, highlighted by strong abs and sensationally defined and peaked biceps. It’s worth noting that among her talents, Yenny also happens to be a pretty good boxer — a two-time Golden Gloves champ in fact — which seems to explain why her upper body and core stands out from the rest of her physique.

Any way you slice it, Yenny is a knockout.
