San Francisco Treat — Wendy Fortino Wins Figure Debut!

The itch to begin her competitive career became too much to scratch for superstar track athlete and former gymnast Wendy Fortino.

The charismatic rookie from California initially planned to make her debut at the Sacramento Pro/Am November 1st as a fitness competitor. But she went the other direction last Saturday — literally and figuratively — slipping into San Francisco for the Figure and Bodybuilding Championships.

Ultimately, this early detour was as golden as the iconic bridge stretching across the historic Pacific metropolis for the 26-year-old wunderkind. Wendy shined on stage, sweeping the short class before snatching the overall title in figure — a phenomenal start to the competitive career of this stunningly talented, 5-foot-1 blonde-haired beauty.

Catching up with Wendy, she explained to me her detour to the City by the Bay over the weekend. “I wanted to do the San Francisco to get ahead of schedule so that I could load up on carbs and really push through routine practice these next few weeks,” she said, adding that the Sacramento show remains her focus.

Energized by her dramatic first win, she’ll head to the state capital brimming with confidence.
